Systems Engineer
The HRST systems engineer has front line contact with the customer from the proposal
stage through project completion. Successful performance in this role requires effective
communication, strong analytical skills balanced with practical experience and a
strong commitment to developing better processes.
This position has a significant amount of travel concentrated during the spring
and fall seasons. A systems engineer can expect to travel 50% of the time from February-May
and October-November with 20% travel the remainder of the year. The typical travel
project involves being away from home four to six consecutive days.
Common Tasks Include:
- Preparing proposal to clients based on their specific needs.
- Perform on-site inspections of power plant HRSGs and boilers and provide customers with practical recommendations
which increase reliability and efficiency.
- Conduct engineering analysis projects which can involve the following:
- Evaluating field performance data to assess potential for problems or improvements.
- Evaluating design failures and developing retrofit design improvements.
- Travel to power plants to gather facts, followed by office engineering.
- Prepare and provide on-site client training, which can include seminar-type sessions on the
design, maintenance and operation of HRSGs .

Qualifications:
- Good communication skills to learn and understand the needs of our clients.
- Good report writing and presentation skills to summarize project results and recommendations.
- Engineering degree from an ABET accredited College or University
- Five years of HRSG design or operations experience
- Technical ability in the fields of heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid
mechanics, plant operations or mechanics of materials.
Office Location:
- Preferably in an existing HRST office (headquarters or regional office), but not
required depending on qualifications.
